Gallery Four: Pictures of the Sublime Gallery Five: Complete list Gallery One: The Spirit of Nature Gallery Two: Impressions of Lakeland From the back of one of Tiana's cards: In the fells of Furness in the Southern Lake District of England, lies the magical forest of Grizedale. The valley was once the location of Grizedale Hall, which was surrounded by an ancient deciduous woodland. After the hall and estate ceased occupation, the land was acquired by the Forestry Commission and the vacant grazing fells were planted with larch, spruce and pine. The forest has over the years been home to flourishing populations of woodmice, owls, red squirrels, roe and latterly red deer. On a still day the forest murmurs can be heard and felt in rustling and vibrating tones that are reflected in the subtle colours of leaves on the trees and the bracken and forest undergrowth. This symphony in colour can be seen and felt at its most spectacular on an autumn day. Tiana has been artist in residence at the painting studio in Grizedale.
