Her paintings were first inspired by the grandeur and majesty of the Lake District, where she grew up, and more recently by the mystery and legend of Glastonbury and the Somerset Levels. Tiana exhibits nationally, and usually exhibits every year in the Lake District, where the strong link between Spirit and the beauty of Nature has produced most of her greatest work. Tiana works from two bases in England the Robin Hill Studio in Kendal, the Northern base, and the Chalice Arts Studio in Glastonbury, the Southern base. The geopathic contrast between the landscapes concentrated and disciplined power in the Lake District and the infinite expansiveness and sense of freedom in Somerset, and their diametrically opposed spirits produces powerfully contrasted work from Tiana Marie’s paint brush. After attending St. Anne’s School, Windermere, Tiana studied at Lancaster College of Art, before attaining her BA (Hons) degree at Leicester Polytechnic in 1981. She returned to the Lake District to begin her life as a professional artist in 1983, the same year in which she was elected to membership of the Lake Artists’ Society, its youngest member at that time.
She has a refined sensitivity to the inner life of a landscape, an inherent empathy with the natural world that causes each painting to breathe with its own life. "I like wild, open spaces, as these places express my love of freedom and suggest to me an expansiveness of mind and spirit." Tiana Marie. Her work has great ascendancy to the ethereal worlds of the sky, a spiritual intensity in the infinity beyond and an ability to depict aerial movement in the sky as a metaphor for human emotions. Tiana Marie has a unique perception an ability to apprehend the invisible and the mystery of Nature and Creation and to inspire each spectator to commune with the Infinite through the simple act of viewing one of her landscapes. email: enquiries@tianamarie.co.uk web: www.tianamarie.co.uk |
